Saying I do...with an Eco-friendly Shoe

New Dainty Shoe Bridal Line by Shoes That Love You

Wedding bells will soon be chiming here in the Midwest, as we begin to enter the warm wedding season. Most females have been daydreaming about the various details of that special day since they cognitively could do so. Recently, I received an e-mail from OKA b. telling me about its new bridal line. I had never really heard of, or thought about, eco-friendly bridal shoes to be honest. After taking a peek, they're kind of interesting and perhaps most importantly to some, look super comfy.

"Imagine a shoe that not only looks great with every outfit but feels great with every step....A slide that matches your wedding gown and massages your feet as you dance down the aisle," OKA b. states on its site.

Some of the best characteristics of these shoes include that they are:

  • made in the USA (Buford, Georgia) at a zero-waste facility
  • $40 and under
  • vegan-friendly
  • recyclable (International Universal Recycling Code #3)
  • designed to feel like something you'd wear at a spa--using aspects of reflexology including massage beads on the bottom for foot pampering and nice posture
  • washable, water-proof and bacteria-resistant

The company also sells all types of sandals and slip ons for most occasions. And it has implemented a new program where consumers can ship back their used OKA b. shoes. Back at the facility they'll grind the shoes up and mix them with "virgin" material. "New" shoes will contain about 20% of recycled material from the old shoes. Anything that can't be reused is sold to another company that makes mats. For more on the process, click here.

This got me thinking...what other eco-friendly bridal shoe opportunities are out there?

I love this idea. I'll suggest it for my daughter, when she gets married. She is very environmentally aware and even grows her own vegetable, as well as recycles. She will be all for it.

I love the idea of the sustainable, environmentally-friendly shoe, but these are not that cute. Sorry.
