Greenly: 'Tis the Season

Written by .

Living seasonally is living green.

This time of year, the phrase “'tis the season” is used rather generously. 'Tis the season to be jolly. 'Tis the season for holiday cheer.

But, something’s always in season. May this philosophy impact the way we shop at the market, prepare meals, and think about everything — from food to flowers — this coming year!

P.S.: I’ll be enjoying the holidays at home with my family and friends, so I'll see you in 2014!

Will you live by the seasons in 2014?

Along with eating local in-season foods, my family preserves our summer harvest to eat throughout the year. Some of our crops such as green beans will last us until the following year's crop is ready for harvest.

IN my family, we find EATING by the seasons saves money and has the added bonus of being good for Mother Earth , so we work hard to ennjoy the foods available to us locally within season.
