The bath salts or sugar scrub idea is the easiest gift to make for someone, you can wash out a spaghetti sauce jar or jelly jar, reuse a ribbon or bow from something else, a label from another gift or leftover wrapping from something you bought, a little sea salt or ordinary white sugar that you may already have in the house, plus about 10-20 drops of essential oils (which is available on sale at TJMaxx, Ross, and Marshalls in the Health & Beauty section) and you've got a gift that would've cost $10-$30 retail, plus all the leftovers are recyclable once it's been used up!

I would have thought it was way more than 25% more trash during the holidays, I see so much piled up at my neighbor's houses on trash days in December it makes me sad. I feel like grabbing it up and recycling it, but I don't want to be the weirdo on the block lol. Now that we have cardboard pickup at our curbside recycling though, I might do it this year. Most of what gets tossed in plastic bags and boxes.

I like to sew so I make different size gift bags with drawstrings for most gifts. It's nice to see how many times they go around each year. I give one to my daughter and the next year I see my nephew with a gift in it. When they start to wear out I get them back so I can make something smaller. My kids used to call me cheap but now I'm thrifty.

I purchased fabric to wrap gifts in. It can be reused over and over.
