Greenly: Reusable Straw Roundup

By |

I’m on a hunt for the best re-usable straw out there. Here are just a few of my favorites!

I’ve recently come to terms with the fact that I’m developing a new guilty green pleasure. Plastic straws. I know, I know. I should make do without them, but something about using a straw to sip my way through green juice has made my morning ritual that much more enjoyable. While straws had never been part of my pantry essentials, I recently bought a pack from the store and have been blowing through them ever since.

My original intent was to reuse and recycle them, but since the disposable plastic straws weren’t intended for reuse, I could never clean them quite well enough. Needless to say, with a fresh surplus on hand, reaching for a new clean one made for an all too easy (non green!) choice.

So here I am, on the hunt for the best re-usable straws out there. Here’s a roundup of my favorites.

Reusable straws

  1. Glass Drinking Straws
  2. Stainless Steel Spoon-Straw
  3. Stainless Steel Straw
  4. Smoothie Straw Set

Don’t forget a brush for a thorough cleaning!

Have you ever used a re-usable straw? Do you have any cleaning tips to share? Post them in the comments below.

I am just so thrilled to learn about the glass, and other new materials that reusable straws are being made of now. I had a hard plastic straw that I put in the dishwasher; but I always wondered if it was really getting clean. Thanks to Recylebank I know what to do!

I found a 5 pack of rubber straws at wal-mart about 6 months ago for $2.99. I thought since they were cheap I would try them out. Turns out I love them and you can put them in the dishwasher to be cleaned. I was excited that I wouldn't have to buy straws again. But when I went there last week to get more(because as I said how much I loved them) I couldn't find them.......figures!!!!!!!
