A “make at home” tansy skin toner!
This soothing skin toner is not only green in color, but since you make it at home without chemicals, it’s easy on the planet, too.
Tansy tonic was in use in my great-great- grandmother’s day, though I’ve just gotten around to using it myself.
Maybe you’ve read that tansy leaves can have a strong smell, but that’s not my finding. Indeed, I find the aroma pleasing and this chilled tonic invigorating. I’ve been splashing on a tablespoon or so in the morning, and on hot days, another in the afternoon. Doing so has made my skin feel more firm and smooth.
Recipe: tansy leaves, water & milk- nothing else!
Easy to make: just simmer, cool, and strain!
Tansy Skin Toner
2 c tansy leaves
1 c water
1 c milk
- Place leaves (I cut them into thirds), water and milk into a small pan and bring to a boil.
- Simmer for 15 minutes; allow to cool in the pan.
- Strain the cooled mixture into a bottle, label. Store your tansy toner in the refrigerator.
- Once chilled, apply to your skin as a soothing toner or tonic.
Squeeze bottles are best but a jar will serve as well.
Expand Your Green!
Use old mustard, honey or any squeeze containers to store your toner and mete out just the right amount for each use.
Save Time and Energy!
Cook once, splash a thousand times! Make a double batch and freeze half. “Green “skin never looked so good!
