I recycle all plastics. However; certain plastics are easier to recycle than others. I use reusable bags for most shopping. Water bottles, soda bottles, paper towel that is wrapped in plastic, any plastic coffee cups, frozen food bags,, snack wrappers, juice containers, and more. Each one of these items has a different code on it for recycling since they are each considered as different plastics.

What is compostable plastics? I recycle and compost, but I have no clue as to what is compostable when it comes to plastics. Thank You.

There are some companies that have tried vegetable-based plastics that can supposedly be composted - they're generally marked on the packages. I recently got some plastic forks that are somehow made with plants. I'm not clear on how they do this, but the problem is these plastics don't mix with normal plastics, and they also can only be composted in special composting facilities - won't work in your home compost heap. At least that's what I've read. I vaguely remember one of the bottled smoothies made a big deal of marketing their bottles as being compostable plastic, but I think they've changed now.
