Does recycling reduce greenhouse gas emissions?
Recycling reduces GHGs by reducing the need to mine and produce virgin materials and by reducing the amount of materials left in landfills where they produce GHGs as they break down.

I am a lifelong recycler. I have been recycling as long as I can remember. My parents and grandparents recycled. My grandma is the one that thought me how to make glass pictures from the broken glass as well as ceramic things to be reused from out old and broken dishes. I don't do it as much as I used to but I think I am going to start making the glass pictures again of the dogs I board for their parents as a Thank you gift, for trusting me with their doggies.

That's great Donna! Some people, my own family, call me extreme or fanatical regarding recycling, but those people that don't do it now will truly hurt and make it much harder for the people that come after us, the future generation. Even cutting those plastic things that hold six-pack cans together could help animals from choking or getting them wrapped around their bodies or necks. I saw a video of a straw in a turtle's nose that was removed by two kind people. There's so many things happening that is just SO unnecessary and we can help these bad things from happening by our actions.

I compost & recycle everything I can in my area. Most people I know don't do anything.

If all of us did even a little bit to help, it could help others so much down the road.
