Greenly: Reusing Pickle Juice

By |

It’s a shame to dump it out, but what else can you do with pickle juice? Here are a few ideas, from my first-hand experience.

A few weeks ago, I made my first jar of homemade pickles! Now that I’m working my way through them, I’m quickly realizing the worst thing about having freshly made pickles in your fridge is eating the last one – especially when you’re not sure what to do with all that leftover salty, delicious brine.

Now that I know every ingredient that goes into my pickle juice, I’m having trouble brining myself to simply toss it. Turns out, there are TONS of ways you put that juice to reuse.

Here’s just a few of my favorite ways to reuse that zingy brine of yours:

  1. Toss thinly sliced red onions in leftover juice for a quick pickle. Perfect to top off any taco!
  2. Dye your Easter eggs naturally with leftover pickled beet juice.
  3. Give your potato salad a vinegary zing by adding brine to the water when you’re boiling the potatoes.
  4. Add another dimension to your Bloody Mary with a tablespoon of pickle juice. How bad can that be?
  5. Not interested in consuming it? Then use it to clean your copper pot collection!
