When I think of playing cards and card games like Black Jack and Poker, I automatically think of Las Vegas casinos. Vegas has hundreds of casinos, and each casino handles thousands of playing cards every day. So what happens to these cards once they are no longer playable? I’d like to think that they get recycled with the other paper products, but I have a feeling that they just get thrown into the trash.

I never thought that these cards could be used for anything other than playing card games or building card houses, but a young designer from South Carolina begs to differ. He’s found a way to recycle old Vegas playing cards into sturdy furniture!

Along with creating a chair made from recycled zippers and silk ties, Benjamin Rollins Caldwell and his team of skilled artists from BRC Designs created what they call the “Deuces Wild” chair. The Deuces Wild Chair is made with 350 retired Vegas playing card decks, and it comes in both red and blue.

You don’t have to worry about the chair falling like a hand of 52 card pickup when you sit in it. It’s strongly packed and completely sturdy.
