Brother is trying a raised bed garden at my dad's this year! He will also have tomato plants in huge containers on a trellis. We think Dad will enjoy watching things grow and he can even help on his little rollator walker!

My son and I share the garden effort. When frost threatened, we get the tomatoes and peppers potted up and put them in my greenroom. Peppers keep on ripening, as do tomatoes. We always seem to manage to get the correct bugs to polinate the tomatoes, but I do the pepper blossoms with a water color brush. Then when frost threat is over, back they go into his garden. Fresh produce all winter, in KS. Some pepper plants have gone for three seasons. Tomatoes do two very well.

There are so many vegies and fruits you can grow on your own. The cost and investment for all is a great idea. Check the web for those that grow best in your area.

I just picked my first tomato tonight, the plants are looking good. I only have about 6 or 7 tomato plants, one cucumber, and a pepper plant.
